What Does The Bible Say?

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." Matthew 28:19

"For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ." Galatians 3:27

Next Steps

Now that you are a Christian you need to be baptized in water. Water baptism is the Biblical way to witness publically that you have accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour.

JESUS

Water baptism was ordained by Jesus Christ both by His own example and by His direct commandment. The Bible says, "Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John." (Matt. 3:13). Just before He ascended into heaven, Jesus commanded, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matt. 28:19).

APOSTLES

Water baptism was ordained by Jesus Christ both by His own example and by His direct commandment. The Bible says, "Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John." (Matt. 3:13). Just before He ascended into heaven, Jesus commanded, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit." (Matt. 28:19).

NEEDED BY ALL CHRISTIANS

Water baptism shows that you want to put off your old life and be obedient to Christ and that you want to grow in your faith and knowledge of Christ.

Water baptism shows your new life in Christ; it is an outward way of showing your inward commitment to Him.

THE MEANING OF BAPTISM

To baptize means to immerse. In the Bible, a person being baptized was entirely immersed in water to signify the burial of their old life. When Jesus was baptized, the Bible says He came "up out of the water" (Mark 1:10). When Philip baptized the Ethiopian (Acts 8:38) they went "into the water."

2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!" The Bible shows us that a person would be baptized as soon as they gave their life to Christ. It was automatic.

THE METHOD OF BAPTISM

At KCC we baptize as the Bible shows, the person is fully immersed underwater. We like to hold our baptismal services outside, but we have an indoor alternative when we are unable to. The pastor stands in the water to baptize each person, and after they are baptized, they are helped out of the water so they can change into their dry clothes.

Next Steps

Once you have made the decision to be baptized, please complete and submit the following form.

Because water baptism is a serious and important step in one's faith, we recommend that children should be 11 or older to be baptized.
